Salmon farm accepted on economic grounds in special protection area

A salmon farming site in a proposed Special Protection Area at Scapa Flow, Orkney, was approved with no harm to navigation for oil tankers, landscape and visual amenity, water quality or ecology. The farm would comprise 12 x 100 metre circumference cages in a 60-metre grid with a 200-tonne feed barge.
