TCPA announces new chief executive

The Town and Country Planning Association (TCPA) has announced that Fiona Howie, who heads the Campaign for National Parks, will be the organisation's new chief executive.

Howie is currently chief executive at the Campaign for National Parks, the charity devoted to supporting and promoting England and Wales' 13 national parks.

She formerly worked at conservation lobby group, the Campaign to Protect Rural England, as its head of planning.

The TCPA announced the news yesterday at its annual conference conference in London.

Howie will join the TCPA at the beginning of February, it said, following the recent departure of its previous chief executive Kate Henderson who now heads the National Housing Federation.

The TPCA, whose head of policy Hugh Ellis has been acting as interim chief executive since Henderson's departure, said it would make a further statement about the new appointment in January.
