Neighbourhood Watch: 11th London neighbourhood plan cleared

Two more neighbourhood plans moved towards adoption in London last month, with voters in Westminster and Richmond providing the latest referendum wins.

The Knightsbridge Neighbourhood Plan became the first such document to clear the referendum hurdle in the City of Westminster, securing more than 1,000 votes in support of the plan on a 93 per cent approval rating.

Similarly, the Ham and Petersham Neighbourhood Plan became the first to pass in Richmond upon Thames, after achieving support from 84 per cent of those voting.

These take the overall number of successful neighbourhood plan referendums in London to 11 (see table). Four have been in Camden, where back in June Hampstead Town’s became the latest plan to be approved.

Another two have been in Ealing, including West Ealing, with two in Kensington and Chelsea, including the first neighbourhood plan to be adopted in London (Norland).

According to data compiled by the Neighbourhood Planners London network, five further draft plans in London have either been submitted to the local planning authority or are under examination.
