No exception to using standard method for housing land supply calculations in appeals, proposes MHCLG

Planners should only be able to use the new standard housing need method when calculating a council's five year land supply for the purpose of appeals, the government has said, as it proposed scrapping the 'exceptional circumstances' allowing alternative ways of assessing housing need in decision-making.
