Developer Newby has submitted outline plans for the scheme, which is earmarked for the former Calders industrial site at Skinnerburn Road in the city.
Alongside the new homes, Newby plans to construct 10,605 square metres of commercial space, community and leisure floorspace, retail space, food and drink units, and open space.
A new east/west spine road through the site would provide vehicle, cycle and pedestrian access to the site. The scheme would be known as Quayside West.
The site is allocated in Newcastle City Council’s adopted core strategy for mixed-use residential/commercial uses, with ancillary uses.
