Berkeley chief to address Planning for Housing conference

Tony Pidgley, the chairman of housebuilder Berkeley Group, is among the speakers confirmed for the Planning for Housing conference in London next month.

The topic of the conference, which takes place on 4 October, is How to Plan to Make Housing Delivery Happen. It focuses on the implications of the government's drive to make planning authorities and developers ensure that the required homes are not only planned for but also delivered.

Delegates will hear senior speakers discuss the implications of the proposed housing delivery test, the housing white paper and other relevant government policy changes.

Pidgley will speak at a session on housing delivery which will include an examination of how the proposed housing delivery test will work and how planning authorities and developers can work together to accelerate housebuilding to meet the test.

Apart from Pidgley, other speakers include: Department for Communities and Local Government's chief planner Steve Quartermain; National Infrastructure Commission chief executive Phil Graham, Homes and Communities Agency director of accelerated construction Stephen Kinsella, Greater London Authority strategic planning manager Jennifer Peters, Local Plans Expert Group chair John Rhodes and Transport for London property development director Lester Hampson.
