In a referendum on whether Amber Valley Borough Council should use the Swanwick neighbourhood plan there was a 14.5% vote for the use of the plan, far lower than the 50% necessary for the neighbourhood plan to proceed. The referendum was held on 20 October and had a turnout of 26.15%.
The Examiner's report on the Swanwick neighbourhood plan was issued to Amber Valley Borough Council in April 2016. The Examiner found that provided modifications were made the plan could proceed to a referendum.
Swanwick Parish Council had submitted its draft neighbourhood plan to Amber Valley Borough Council who publicised the plan for a eight week consultation that began on 18 November 2015.
Swanwick Parish Council had published their pre-submission draft neighbourhood plan for a previous round of consultation that took place between 26 March 2015 and 16 May 2015.
The application from Swanwick Parish Council to be the designated body to produce the neighbourhood development plan was approved by Amber Valley Borough Council on 23 May 2013.
