In a referendum on whether Mendip District Council should use the Frome neighbourhood plan there was a 85.7% vote in favour of using the plan. The referendum was held on 20 October 2016 and had a turnout of 17.9%.
The Examiner's report on the Frome neighbourhood plan was issued to Mendip District Council on 16 March 2016. The Examiner found that provided modifications were made the plan could proceed to a referendum.
Frome Town Council had submitted their draft neighbourhood plan to Mendip District Council who had publicised the plan for a consultation that took place between 10 November 2014 and 23 December 2014.
Frome Town Council had published their pre-submission draft neighbourhood plan for an earlier round of consultation that took place between 28 October 2013 and 31 December 2013.
The application from Frome Town Council to be the designated body to produce the neighbourhood development plan was approved by Mendip District Council on 8 April 2013.
