Barnsley Council have published their CIL draft charging schedule for a consultation that takes place between 17 October 2016 and 28 November 2016.
The draft charging schedule has lowered the top rate for residential developments from £100 to £80 per m2. The draft has lowered the charge for large residential developments in one zone from £30 to £10 per m2, and removed a charge of £5 per m2 in another. For small residential developments the area where there is a charge of £30 per m2 has been reduced in the draft. The draft has made the £70 per m2 for A1 retail developments boroughwide.
The preliminary draft charging schedule was published by Barnsley Council between 15 June 2016 and 24 July 2016. The top rate in the preliminary draft for residential developments was £100 per m2. There was an additional area in the preliminary draft where there was a £5 per m2 for large residential developments. In the preliminary draft there was an area where the levy would not be charged for retail developments.
Proposed rates include:
- Four large residential charging zones with rates of £80, £50, £10, and £0 per m2.
- Four small residential charging zones with rates of £80, £50, £30, and £0 per m2.
- Retail developments (A1) will be charged £70 per m2.
- No charge for all other uses.
