Southwell Neighbourhood Development Plan - Plan adopted

The Southwell neighbourhood development plan was made part of Newark and Sherwood District Council's local development framework on 11 October 2016.

Newark and Sherwood District Council decided to make the Southwell neighbourhood plan part of its local development framework at a meeting of its Full Council that was held on 11 October 2016. The plan will inform planning decisions in the Town up to 2026.

In a referendum on whether Newark and Sherwood District Council should use the Southwell neighbourhood plan there was a 92.5% vote in favour of using the plan. The referendum was held on 22 September 2016 and had a turnout of 26.9%.

The Examiner's report on the Southwell neighbourhood plan was issued to Newark and Sherwood Council on 13 March 2016. The Examiner found that provided modifications were made the plan could proceed to a referendum.

Southwell Town Council had submitted their draft neighbourhood plan to Newark and Sherwood District Council who publicised the plan for a consultation that took place between 12 November 2015 and 8 January 2016.

Southwell Town Council had published its pre-submission draft neighbourhood plan for a previous round of consultation that took place between 30 January 2015 and 16 March 2015.

The application from Southwell Town Council to be the designated body to produce the neighbourhood development plan was approved by Newark and Sherwood District Council on 6 December 2012.
