Lichfield District Council - CIL draft charging schedule submitted for examination

Lichfield District Council submitted its Community Infrastructure Levy draft charging schedule for examination on 26 November 2015.

Lichfield District Council has submitted its CIL draft charging schedule for examination on 26 November 2015. The submission draft charging schedule has the the same rates as had been included in the consultation draft.

Previous Progress

The preliminary draft charging schedule was published by Lichfield District Council for a consultation held between 11 March 2014 and 22 April 2014. The preliminary draft had proposed two charging zones for residential developments with rates of £50 and £30 per m2.

The preliminary draft charging schedule a higher rate for retail warehouse developments at £100 per m2. The draft also had a higher rate for neighbouhood convenience retail developments at £35 per m2.

Lichfield District Council then published its CIL draft charging schedule for a consultation and had invited comments on the draft between 20 March 2015 and 1 May 2015. The draft charging schedule raised the rate for residential developments in one area up to £55 per m2, while in another area the charge for residential developments was lowered to £25 per m2.

The draft charging schedule lowered the rate for retail warehouse developments to £70 per m2. The draft also lowered the rate for neighbouhood convenience retail developments to £20 per m2.

Proposed rates include:

- Two residential charging zones with rates of £55 and £25 per m2.

- Supermarkets will be charged £160 per m2.

- Retail warehouse developments will be charged £70 per m2.

- Neighbourhood convenience retail developments will be charged £20 per m2.

- No charge for all other uses.
