The Examiner's report on the Solihull Council CIL draft charging schedule was issued on 21 December 2015. The Examiner had found, that provided a modification was made, the charging schedule would provide an appropriate basis for the collection of the levy in the area. The modification was:
- Introduce an extra zone where C2 and C3 developments would not be charged.
Previous Progress
The CIL preliminary draft charging schedule was published for a consultation that ran from 15 March 2013 until 26 April 2013.
The CIL draft charging schedule was published for a consultation that ran from 21 October 2013 until 2 December 2013.
In the preliminary draft there was a lower charge for car dealerships outside North Solihull that was increased to from £25 to £75 per m2 in the draft charging schedule.
Solihull Borough Council submitted its draft charging schedule for examination on 27 June 2014. Examination hearings were then held on 2 June 2015.
Proposed charges include:
- Three residential charging zones, with rates of £150, £75 and £0 per m2.
- Two hotel and residential institution development charging zones with rates of £25 and £0 per m2.
- Two supermarket and large convenience retail development charging zones with rates of £300 and £0 per m2.
- Two small convenience retail development charging zones with rates of £150 and £0 per m2.
- Three charging zones for other retail (A1) development with rates of £50, £25 and £0 per m2.
- Two financial and professional development (A2) charging zones with rates of £25 and £0 per m2.
- Two food and drink development (A3, A4 & A5) charging zones with rates of £100 and £0 per m2.
- Two car dealership charging zones with rates of £75 and £0 per m2.
- No charge for all other uses.
