Chesterfield Borough Council - CIL charging schedule adopted

Chesterfield Borough Council adopted its Community Infrastructure Levy charging schedule on 14 October 2015.

Chesterfield Borough Council formally resolved to adopt their CIL charging schedule at a meeting of their Full Council which was held on 14 October 2015. The levy will be implemented in the borough from 1 April 2016.

Previous Progress

The preliminary draft charging schedule had been published by Chesterfield Borough Council for a consultation that was held between 3 June and 15 July 2013. The preliminary draft had propsed charging for retail developments accross the borough.

The draft charging schedule was then published by Chesterfield Borough Council for a consultation that took place between 15 November 2013 and 13 January 2014. The draft charging schedule introduced a zone where retail developments would not be charged.

Chesterfield Borough Council submitted its draft charging schedule for examination on 13 June 2014. The proposed charges in the submitted charging schedule remained the same as the charges set out in the preliminary draft charging schedule. An examination hearing was then held on 12 August 2015.

The Examiner's report was issued to Chesterfield Borough Council on 26 November 2014. The Examiner had found that the draft charging schedule provided an appropriate basis for the charging of the levy in the borough.

Adopted rates include:

- Four residential charging zones with rates of £80, £50, £20 and £0 per m2.

- Two retail (A1-5) charging zones with rates of £80 and £0 per m2.

- No charge for all other uses.
