Sheffield City Region Devolution Agreement

The Chancellor of the Exchequer visited Sheffield on 2 October 2015 to confirm the Sheffield devolution deal.

The Sheffield City Region Combined Authority Devolution Deal sets out the terms of a proposed agreement between government and the leaders of the Sheffield city region to devolve a range of powers and responsibilities to the Sheffield city region combined authority and a newly elected mayor.

The powers and functions to be exercised by the new mayor and city region combined authority will include powers over strategic planning, including the responsibility to create a spatial framework for the city region.
