Ribble Valley Core Strategy - Strategy adopted

The Ribble Valley Core Strategy was adopted on 16 December 2014.

Ribble Valley Borough Council formally adopted it Core Strategy at a meeting of its Full Councilon 16 December 2014. The Core Strategy will set the strategic vision for the development in the Borough between 2008 and 2028.

Previous Progress

Ribble Valley Borough Council had published their publication draft Core Strategy for public consultation between 4 May 2012 and 15 June 2012. Following the consultation comments received were considered  and a submission draft plan was produced and submitted to the Secretary of State for examination on 28 September 2012.

An Inspector was then appointed and hearings were held between 14 and 22 January 2014. Following the hearings in a letter addressed to Ribble Valley Borough Council the Inspector recommended that the Council should publish a main modifications. These modifications are to address a housing supply shortfall when the strategy's housing numbers are compared to the Housing Requirement Update by NLP that asses the borough housing needs. THe inspector also raised concerns regarding the location of the new housing developments.

Ribble Valley Borough Council responded to the Inspectors note on 5 February 2014 agreeing to publish their Proposed Main Modifications to address the issues raised by the Inspector.

Response from the Council

On 23 May 2014 Ribble Valley Borough Council published its Proposed Main Modifications for consultation. The consultation closed on 7 July 2014.

Proposed Main Modifications

A further round of consultation on the Proposed Main Modifications took place between 25 July 2014 and 5 September 2014.

The Inspector's report was then issued on 25 November 2014 finding that the Core Strategy was sound providing modifications were made. All of the modifications that the Inspector had recommended had originally been proposed by the Council.
