The application from landowner Strathcaro and Careston Estates was approved under delegated powers by officers at Angus Council on Thursday. As well as the solar panels, it also gives consent to associated works including an electricity substation, access tracks, security fencing and cameras.

The permission is subject to several conditions. Prior to starting building, the developer is required to provide the council with details of the financial provisions that it has put in place to cover all decommissioning and site restoration costs.

Before commencing work, the developer must also submit hard and soft landscaping plans for the site, and plans showing how it will restore the site following decommissioning. It must also agree procedures for dealing with complaints related to reflected glare.

The permission is also subject to various noise restrictions.
