Malmesbury Neighbourhood Development Plan - Referendum results published

The referendum result on the Malmesbury neighbourhood development plan was published on 27 November 2014.

In the referendum held on 27 November 2014 there was a 90.3% vote in favour of adopting the Malmesbury neighbourhood development plan. The voter turnout was 30.4% of the electorate. The neighbourhood Plan will now go to Wiltshire Council to be formally made part of the Local Development Plan.

The Examiner's Report published on 26 September 2014 recommended that, provided modification were made, that the Malmesbury neighbourhood development plan should have proceeded to a referendum.

The Examiners recommendations included updating the plan to take account of developments and changes to the Wiltshire Core Strategy during its examination. Other modifications were to bring the plan into line with the NPPF and to meet the basic conditions.

Prior to passing the plan onto the Examiner Wiltshire Council held a consultation on the draft plan between 20 January 2014 and 12 March 2014.

Before the plan was submitted to Wiltshire Council a consultation was held by Malmesbury Town Council on the pre-submission draft plan from 5 March 2013 until 26 April 2013.

The application from Malmesbury Town Council to be the designated body to produce the neighbourhood development plan was approved by Wiltshire Council on 16 January 2013. The application was submitted on 26 September 2012.
