In a statement, Carter Jonas said that the acquisition, effective from 11 December, would see Planning Perspectives begin trading as Carter Jonas, and increase Carter Jonas’ London planning and development team to 33 people, who will all be based in the firm's West End headquarters One Chapel Place.
Figures supplied for the Planning Consultancy Survey 2014 showed that on 1 September this year, Carter Jonas employed 20 chartered town planners at offices in Harrogate, London, Oxford and Cambridge, along with four Royal Town Planning Institute students or licentiates. The firm's planning fee income in 2013/14 amounted to £3.8 million, including £2 million from residential projects.
Planning Perspectives employed 11 chartered planners and four other planning fee-earners at its London base on the same date, according to the survey. The firm's planning fee income in 2013/14 was £1.7 million.
Carter Jonas head of planning Nick Taylor said the enlarged London team would be a "very strong" planning consultancy, advising a portfolio of private and public sector clients including the Church Commissioners, Cemex, the DIO, Development Securities and The Crown Estate.
He added that the new team will include a specialist retail planning and town centre consultancy.
