The site comprised several fields which were in use by residents of the static mobile home park nearby and there was little doubt that local residents valued the high quality landscape. The touring caravans would involve a significant alteration in the appearance of the site due to their reflective finish and the parking of cars. Terracing of the site to provide level plateaus would only be noticeable from close by and dense hedgerows and trees limited views from public vantage points. Overall the development would be visually contained and the appellant planned to plant additional woodland to further mitigate the impact.
Inspector: Hywell Wyn Jones; Hearing
Touring caravan allowed as extension to static holiday park
An inspector was satisfied that 66 pitches for touring caravans was an acceptable extension to a holiday park in mid Wales, despite concerns from local residents regarding the visual impact.
