Following the approval by an examiner and a successful referendum Arun District Council has resolved to make Bersted Neighbourhood Plan part of their Local Development Framework.
The Bersted neighbourhood development plan had passed its referendum held on 23 October 2014 with a vote of 90.6% in favour of adopting the plan. The voter turnout had been 16.2%.
The Examiner's report had been published on 25 July 2014, recommending that provided modifications were made the Bersted neighbourhood development plan should proceed to the referendum.
The consultation on the submitted draft neighbourhood plan took place between 14 May 2014 and 25 June 2014. Prior to this there was a pre-submission consultation between 19 February 2014 and 2 April 2014.
An application from Bersted Parish Council to be the designated body to produce the neighbourhood development plan was approved by Arun District Council on 10 December 2012. The application was submitted on 23 July 2012.
