Babergh District Council published its CIL draft charging schedule for consultation between 10 November 2014 and 24 December 2014. Babergh District Council anticipate that the charging schedule will be initiated by April 2015.
The draft charging schedule has identified more strategic sites and has reduced the charge in one of the identified sites so that none of the strategic sites will be charged. The draft also clarified that assisted living housing developments will not be charged. The charge for wholly or mainly convenience retail was reduced to £100 per m2 in the draft.
The preliminary draft charging schedule was published by Babergh District Council and Mid Suffolk District Council as a Joint CIL prlimnary draft charging schedule. The preliminary draft was available for consultation between 21 May 2014 and 4 July 2014.
The preliminary draft charging schedule had similar rates to the draft but identified fewer strategic sites in Babergh where residential rates would not apply and another site would have been charged £40 per m2. The preliminary draft also had a higer charge for wholly or mainly convenience retail developments with a rate of £120 per m2.
Proposed charges include:
- Three residential charging zones with rates of £115 and £0 per m2 and one zone with varying rates of £90 per m2 for smaller developments and £50 per m2 for larger developments.
- Assisted living housing developments will not be charged.
- Wholly or mainly convenience retail developments will be charged £100 per m2.
- No charge for all other uses.
