Greenfield housing site released in key service village

The development of up to 55 houses on a greenfield site on the edge of a Staffordshire village would not undermine the character of area, an inspector has decided.

The main parties agreed that the site comprised a field with hedges containing some trees and that its landscape value was medium. In terms of its impact on a wider landscape character area an inspector decided that this would be negligible with only localised effects. Walkers using public rights of way would experience some change in their outlook but wider views of the countryside would still be achieved. The land was not of the highest agricultural quality and in the absence of a five-year supply of housing land permission was forthcoming.
