South Cambridgeshire District Council has submitted its CIL draft charging schedule for examination although they do not anticipate the examination to start until Spring 2014. The reason that they are delaying the begining of the examination is that due to the links between CIL and their Local Plan means that South Cambridge District Council are waiting for the Local Plan to be examined first.
The preliminary draft charging schedule had been published for consultation between 19 July 2013 and 30 September 2013. The preliminary draft had proposed the same rates as were included in the first draft charging schedule.
South Cambridgeshire District Council published its CIL second draft charging schedule for consultation between 7July 2014 and 4 August 2014. This second draft immediately followed the CIL first draft charging schedule which was available between 28 April 2014 and 7 July 2014.
The changes between the first and second drafts were made to account for the submission of the South Cambridgeshire and the Cambridgeshire City Local Plans. These Plans had allocate some of Cambridge Cities residential sites to the North East of Cambridge City within South Cambridge. That meant the higher rate of £125 per m2 would apply to different site allocations.
Proposed charges include:
- Three residential charging zones with rates of £100, £125 and £0 per m2.
- Large scale retail developments will be charged £125 per m2.
- Small scale retail developments will be charged £50 per m2.
- No charge for all other uses.
