Redditch Local Plan - Strategy submitted to Secretary of State (Examination Update)

The Redditch Borough Council Local Plan was submitted to the Secretary of State on 12 March 2014.

An examiner will be allocated and the strategy will then be inspected. The Draft Local Plan had been published by Redditch Borough Council for consultation between 1 April 2013 and 15 May 2013. Redditch Borough Council then held a further consultation on their proposed submission version of the plan between 30 September 2013 and 11 November 2013.

Examination Update

An Inspector has been appointed and initial hearing sessions were held on 16 and 17 June 2014. The Inspector's interim conclusions were then published on 17 July 2014. The Inspector was satisfied that the duty to co-operate had been met, however the Inspector highlighted the need for further work to be carried out to objectively assess housing need.

Inspector's Interim Conclusions

Further hearing sessions were held between 23 and 25 September 2014 and as a result the Inspector wrote to Redditch Borough Council on 3 October 2014 requesting that further work be carried out to address housing site selection methodology and sustainability. Redditch then published its schedule of modifications on the 9 October 2014. And on 6 November 2014 the council published its sustainability appraisal refresh as well as an addendum to the housing growth development study and the housing growth sustainability appraisal.
