Impact of National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) on DCP manual

We have analysed the content of the proposed NPPF in relation to the contents of the DCP manual. The results of this analysis can be accessed by clicking the links in the main article.

Current status of NPPF

Decentralisation minister Greg Clark has said that the government intends to publish the final version of its NPPF 'well ahead' of April 2012.

A 12-week consultation on the draft NPPF closed in October, with the National Trust – one of the most vocal critics of the proposals – handing over a petition containing more than 200,000 signatures.

Housing minister Grant Shapps has ruled out holding a second consultation on the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).

Our analysis of the NPPF and its impact on DCP

We initially carried out a series of searches on the DCP manual to ascertain where a Planning Policy Guidance note or a Planning Policy Statement was mentioned. We did this as these documents are to be cancelled by the proposed NPPF. We also worked out the percentage of a particular section that would be impacted by the introduction of the NPPF. The results of this analysis can be accessed here.

We then linked the soon to be cancelled PPS/PPG documents to both where their contents are covered in the NPPF and the main DCP section which covers the contents of the cancelled PPG/PPS. The results of this analysis can be accessed here.

Finally we carried out a detailed analysis of the sections of the proposed NPPF and noted the main DCP sections which would be impacted. The results of this analysis can be accessed here.
