Morton is wrong on new build quality

Alex Morton's article (Planning 16 Nov) regarding quality of new build housing couldn't be any further from the truth.

He obviously hasn't been near any new housing over the years.

Nowadays, with so many burdens of regulation and input from 'everyone and their dog' during the planning process, applications are strongly scrutinised and assessed, and planners have done a great job in creating good design led housing schemes up and down the country.

This coupled with design criteria such as Build for Life, Code requirements and ever increasing high performance building regs measures ensure most new housing is high quality, high efficiency and well designed good quality homes which the public are happy to spend the majority of their income on purchasing!

Perhaps Morton should get out from behind his policy desk and see how it is on the ground!
