Shoosmiths unveils new Manchester planning team

Law firm Shoosmiths has established a new planning team in its Manchester office.

The team is comprised of associate Melanie Grimshaw and solicitor Marcus Woody, the law firm said in a statement.

Earlier this year, Grimshaw joined Shoosmiths from law firm Bircham Dyson Bell, where she advised on major projects, including nationally significant infrastructure projects under the Planning Act 2008.

Woody has relocated to Manchester having spent four years at Shoosmith’s Birmingham office.

Grimshaw and Woody’s work will be overseen by partner and national head of planning Kirsten Hewson,

She said: "Since we opened in Manchester, I’ve been keen to see us establish a dedicated planning team here.

"And while Melanie and Marcus will work closely with the recently established Manchester real estate team, there’s certainly scope for them to bring on board and develop their own clients to bolster the national planning team, which already boasts a presence in the south and Midlands."
