Belfast team win Glasgow student quiz

A team from Queen's University Belfast was last night declared the winner of the Scotland and Ireland competition in the Planning Student Quiz 2011.

The quiz, which is organised by Planning and sponsored by consultancy RPS, saw students compete over five rounds of both planning and general knowledge questions in order to win a cash prize of £500.

The winning team, named Winner Winner Chicken Dinner, saw off stiff competition from two teams from Glasgow University and another from Dundee University to emerge triumphant.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner was made up of Neil Galway, Alan McCarten, Aisling Murphy and Stephanie Palmer, all of whom are currently studying for PhDs at Queen's’ planning department.

Palmer said: "We didn’t come across expecting to win. But we didn’t want to come second – we wanted to either lose or win."

This year’s Scotland and Ireland quiz was hosted by Glasgow University.
