Huntingdonshire launches consultation into CIL tariffs

Huntingdonshire District Council has launched a consultation on its proposed Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) tariffs to be charged to developers to help fund local infrastructure within the borough.

According to the consultation, the standard rate charged on new developments will be £85 per square metre for all development types, with some exceptions.

These include retail developments greater than 500sq metres, which will be charged a CIL rate of £100 per square metre, hotels (C1 development class) at £60 per square metre and health developments (D1 class) at £140 per square metre.

Business (B1), general industrial, storage & distribution (B2 and B8), community use buildings (within D1 and D2) and agricultural developments will be exempt from the charge.

The consultation closes in December, and the council said it hopes to adopt an agreed charging schedule in April or May 2012.
