Power hub - Firms propose new electricity-producing Thames Barrage

Proposals for a new Thames barrier and crossing that would protect London and the Thames Gateway from flooding and produce tidal energy are part of plans to upgrade the infrastructure in and around London unveiled by architects Foster & Partners and engineering company Halcrow.

The proposed Thames Hub would also include an international airport on the Isle of Grain next to the barrier and would sit on a high-speed orbital rail link around London, with energy and data being carried alongside the tracks.
