The Bristow Bunch, comprising Helen Hartley, Alison Baisden, Steven Walker, Michael Clarkson, hit the highest total in Wednesday's northern heat of the competition in Manchester. The master of planning students took home the £300 prize, handed out by RPS representative Andrew Stevenson.
Runners-up James Hughes, Alistair Kefford, Chris Wilkinson, Gordon Webster, competing as Plantastic, also secured a place in the final with a very competitive haul of 67 points. In the chair as quizmaster was Jamie Birtles of the Royal Town Planning Institute’s young planners network.
The Manchester teams will battle it out for the £1,500 golden prize next week against The Last Bastion of Communism and PPS I Love You from Kingston University, Austin’s Angels and Enemies of Enterprise from the University of Birmingham, Cardiff University’s We’re Totally Picked and Only Here For The Freebies from the University of the West of England.
