The winners, who picked up a £300 cheque, were the Last Bastion of Communism team, made up of year 1 MA student Margaret Shum and year 2 MA students Kieran Taylor, Majeed Meky and Florance Temple.

The runners-up, who also booked a place in the national final, were PPS I Love You, comprising Leon Murray, Andy Irish, Steve Saville and James Sharples.

Ten teams took part in the heat, with entrants also coming from Westminster University and the Bartlett School of Planning at University College London.

Quiz-master Richard Lemon, former chair of RTPI London, took the teams through five rounds of wide-ranging questions.

RPS fielded four staff members from its London office – director Paul Aldridge, associates Jonathan Walton and Amit Malhotra and business development executive Rhonda Craig.

The two Kingston teams join entrants from Cardiff and Bristol in the final. Further heats will take place at the universities of Birmingham on 10 March, Manchester on 16 March and Glasgow on 17 March.
