Town books retail study

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council has instructed real estate adviser Colliers International to conduct a retail and leisure study of the town.

The study will provide evidence for the Rotherham local development framework up to 2027 and inform future retail policy. Colliers International head of research and consulting Richard Doidge said: "Rotherham has been subject to changing national retail and leisure market trends over the past 20 years."

Council cabinet member for regeneration and environment Gerald Smith added: "This study will be vital in helping us understand how things might change and ensuring that our planning decisions are based on up-to-date information."
