Retail site up for renewal

Consultancy DPP has submitted an application for the regeneration of Edge Lane Retail Park in Liverpool.

The scheme is part of Derwent Holdings' package of proposals for the Edge Lane Central area. The proposals are scheduled to go before the city council planning committee in December, with work beginning next year.

The scheme includes plans for £200 million of private sector investment into Liverpool's eastern gateway, 82,755m2 of commercial development, a replacement retail and leisure park, parking and cycle spaces, public realm and 1,500 jobs.

DPP was appointed last year and worked with Liverpool Vision and the city council. Associate partner Mark Aylward said: "DPP has prepared several planning applications to take forward these proposals.

"This has involved reconciling interests of key stakeholders from residents to neighbouring authorities, local businesses and CABE."
