Government approves revamp of Nottingham railway station

A £60 million revamp of Nottingham railway station has been approved by the government.

As part of the project, brownfield land within the station site would be redeveloped for a mix of uses generating approximately 900 jobs. A new concourse, extra shops and a 950-space car park will be created at the station. The site's grade II listed buildings will also be restored and highways improvements will be carried out on Queen's Road. Work will begin in July 2012 and is due to be completed by the end of 2014.
