Park adopts localist plan

The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority has become the first in Wales to adopt a local development plan.

It will begin preparing supplementary planning guidance starting with affordable housing, which will be issued for consultation shortly.

The plan replaces the joint unitary development plan (UDP) for the park area. Areas of the county outside the national park will still conform to UDP policy and guidance under the responsibility of Pembrokeshire County Council.

Park authority chairman Richard Howells said: "The development plan team has worked extremely hard to follow the process set out by the Welsh Assembly and the fact that we are the first local authority in Wales to formally adopt the plan is a wonderful accolade."
