Researchers map feelings for environmental impact study

Researchers at the London School of Economics have created a new iPhone application that aims to map happiness across the UK.

Researchers will "beep" users every day to find out how they are feeling, as well as determine who they are with, where they are and what they are doing.

Responses are then sent back to their data store, along with the user's approximate location calculated by the iPhone's global positioning system.

The researchers are trying to understand how people's feelings are affected by features of their present environment, including factors such as air pollution, noise and green spaces.
