Planning Aid funding increase set to expand core services

Planning, 13 June 2008

Communities secretary Hazel Blears gave further details of the increase in funds to Planning Aid last week.

These are designed to ensure that people have the advice and professional support they need to give them a proper voice in the planning process. Following the doubling from £1.7 million in 2007-08 to £3.2 million this year, funding will increase to £4.1 million in 2009-10 and £4.5 million in 2010-11. This means that the number of people directly helped by the core service will rise significantly. Blears said: "Planning Aid is an immensely important service, empowering people to get involved."
