Interim measures are needed to deal with current problems before the planning function is transferred wholly or in part to local authorities, according to the RTPI Ireland Northern Section in response to the announcement of a government review of the province's planning service.
Policy adviser Brian Sore says: "There are problems in the planning system that need to be tackled as a matter of urgency." The RTPI is also calling for the review to be linked to the broader scrutiny of public administration to ensure a coherent approach to reform.
