The Scottish Government's intervention following rejection of US property magnate Donald Trump's plan for a £1 billion golf centre in Aberdeenshire raises serious questions about the planning system.
RTPI secretary-general Robert Upton said: "Negotiation was never allowed by the Trump team. It was always take it or leave it." He was also concerned about the government's procedures: "Do ministers intend to review the decision based on planning law and the evidence submitted, or are they looking for a mechanism by which they can improve the scheme and renegotiate the application?"
