Planning, 23 January 2009
A South West young planners' network event on the assessment of professional competence (APC) at the University of the West of England (UWE) in November attracted around 50 public and private sector planners along with students at varying stages of their planning careers.
An introduction by UWE planning and architecture department head Janet Askew was followed by presentations by RTPI lifelong learning officer Jacqui Ward on the APC process and Adrian Fox and Pauline Tillett from Stride Treglown on how this fits into the workplace. UWE's centre for environment and planning director Professor Katie Williams rounded off the evening with a view on the research element of the world of planning. There was then a chance for informal networking and discussion, with many attendees saying they felt more comfortable with the process on which they were embarking.
