AWARDS FOR ALL WALES

  • Funding: The fund has a budget of £2.4 million over its entire life span: it was set up in 2005 and runs until 2009. Awards For All Wales makes grants of between £500 and £5,000. Organisations can receive up to £5,000 from the fund in any 12-month period. Applications for funding from the programme can be made at any time.
  • Funder: Good causes distributors the Big Lottery Fund and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
  • Aim: Awards for All Wales aims to fund projects that involve people in their local community, bringing them together to take part in community activities to do with heritage, charity work, health, education and the environment among others. Some projects that the scheme would consider funding include: a creche facility for a rural community; publicity and promotion of a group that recycles computers for community use; equipment such as bingo machines with giant visual displays and hearing loops for those with hearing impairments; an exhibition and trail walk featuring buildings of local historical interest; and promoting healthy eating and more exercise.
  • Who Can Apply? All not-for-profit groups, parish and town councils, schools and health bodies are eligible to apply for funding. Recipients must spend the grants within a year of receiving the funding. In addition, organisations must have a bank account that requires at least two people to sign each cheque or withdrawal.

  • Funder: Welsh Assembly Government. The fund is managed by the Communities First Support Network and administered on its behalf by the Wales Council for Voluntary Action.

HEALTHY FAMILIES: CHILD'S PLAY WALES
