Government to rake in £275m from eco-town sales

The government could make £275m from the sale of former MoD sites for its controversial eco towns, according to weekend media reports.
According to the Sunday Telegraph, six out of the shortlisted 15 sites are on property either sold or earmarked for sale by the MoD.
Under ‘claw back’ provisions, when the land is sold the government can recover up to 50% of the rise in land value after planning permission is granted.
A final shortlist of locations will be published this autumn.
