Simon Coop
Senior Planner, Nathaniel Lichfield and Partners
Simon Coop is a senior planner at the Cardiff office of planning consultants Nathaniel Lichfield and Partners (NLP). Coop took an MSc in city and regional planning at Cardiff University before joining NLP as a graduate planner in 2002.
He was promoted to senior planner in 2005 and is involved in residential, retail and commercial developments for clients such as B&Q, Cathedral Group, Cavanna Homes, Foinavon, Marks & Spencer and Redrow Homes, as well as local planning authorities.
"I have enjoyed being part of NLP at a time of significant growth within the firm. Over the past few years we have grown from having four professional staff to become one of the largest consultancies in Cardiff, with 13 professional staff," says Coop.
"The range, size and quality of planning projects I have worked on has been rewarding and challenging, with lots of opportunities for hands-on experience and direct exposure to different clients. I have developed my skills as a planner, a great basis for my future planning career."
But life at NLP is not all about hard work, he adds. "There is everything from unofficial socials within each office to company-wide activities, including study trips to European cities such as Berlin, Paris and Barcelona."
