Introduction and mission statement
Enterprise Resources is one of 7 Resources within South Lanarkshire Council and is responsible for a wide range of important services. The resource comprises 5 Services of approximately 700 employees operating from a variety of locations throughout the South Lanarkshire area.
Planning & Building Standards Services operates from their Headquarters in Hamilton and 4 area offices (Hamilton, Lanark, East Kilbride and Cambuslang/Rutherglen) and provides a full range of services including strategic and local development planning, development management, building standards and plays a significant role in the delivery of Corporate strategies including sustainable development, strategic environmental assessment and regeneration.
South Lanarkshire covers an area of enormous diversity, sitting to the east and south of the Glasgow conurbation. Its population of over 300,000 people reside in communities that include royal burghs, a new town, market towns, former weaving and mining villages and agricultural villages, spread through an area extending from the Southern uplands through the Clyde Valley to the edge of the City of Glasgow.

Planning & Building Standards Services offer a wide range of opportunities. Jobs include Planning Officers (3 levels - foundation, standard and advanced), including specialist disciplines such as conservation, minerals and strategic environmental assessment, Trainee Graduate Planning Officers, Enforcement Officers, Technicians, Team Leaders and Area Managers.
Current opportunities exist for Advanced Planning Officers in development management and in strategic environmental assessment.
