Planning, 26 September 2008
Planning teams have continued to recruit despite recent redundancies at some big property consultancies.
DTZ head of planning Graeme Tulley confirmed that none of its redundancies were in the planning department. The firm announced three appointments this week as part of an expansion of its town centre and retail planning services to meet continuing demand.
Jones Lang LaSalle head of planning Guy Bransby said redundancies have not hit the planning team: "Developers are squeezing as much as they can from their portfolios and for that they need planners," he reasoned.
"The work may have changed - clients are looking to refurbish existing assets rather than knock them down and rebuild - but there is still demand."
Meanwhile, Drivers Jonas announced its 2008 planning graduate intake of 12, joining offices in Birmingham, London and Manchester.
