Commons committee wants higher threshold

Councils should have more autonomy to shape the development of their communities, MPs have argued.

The Commons communities and local government select committee wants a higher threshold before central government or its agencies intervene in local issues. The MPs found that big city and county councils feel that they are not being given sufficient scope to develop their place-shaping role.
