Guidance on assessing the impact of roads on historic landscapes has been published by the Highways Agency and English Heritage. Assessment will now have to consider mitigation, such as design measures to minimise changes caused by noise, land take, visual intrusion and vibration. Assessing the Effect of Road Schemes on Historic Landscape Character is available from the Highways Agency on (tel) 08457 504030.
