Local Government Association says funding for sea defences is inadequate

Council funding for sea defences is "woefully inadequate" and places tens of thousands of coastal homes at risk, local government leaders warned this week. The Local Government Association called for the £75 million annual budget for sea defences to be drastically increased as sea levels are expected to rise by around 30cm over the next 50 years.
