Plans to be developed for monastery in Gorton

Plans to develop a 19th century monastery and surrounding land in Gorton, east Manchester, are to be developed as a leading example of heritage-led regeneration. The Gorton Monastery Village scheme joins a handful of projects chosen by the Prince's Foundation to showcase best practice in regeneration. The foundation will work alongside English Partnerships, New East Manchester and Gorton Monastery Trust to identify the best design. The scheme will comprise around 60 family houses next to the derelict grade II* listed monastery and a mixed-use development next to the building.
